What is the REALCompiler?
Some people on the MacScript Mailing list wanted a way to control the Finder via AppleScript, in a way harking back to the good ol’ command-line days of DOS. AppleScript comes close to that, but there is no small, quick, AppleScript “Command-Line” application that works with OS 8.
Enter REALCompiler. Based on some example code from the REALBasic website, a program was easily written to allow this exact situation to happen.
